ICAP at Columbia University, a global health leader situated within the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health in New York City, seeks highly qualified candidates to serve as a part time temporally skilled Data Engineer based in Nairobi (Kenya) with experience in Superset to join our dynamic team. As a Data Engineer specializing in Superset, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining our data visualization and exploration platform. You will collaborate closely with our data analysts, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure our data visualization solutions meet the needs of our business users.
The successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field and at least 3 years’ experience with data visualization. He / She must have Proven experience as a Data Engineer or similar role, with specific experience in developing data visualizations using Superset specifically in health informatics. Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases, such as PostgreSQL. Must be familiar with data modelling and schema design concepts. He / She must have experience with ETL processes and data pipeline development.
The incumbent will have a demonstrated track record / experience working effectively as a part of diverse staff teams, and contributing to successful collaborations with donors, host-country ministries of health, and civil society.

U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and ICAP at Columbia University announce the recruitment of participants for a new training program titled EpiTech: Data Modernization for Field Epidemiology. The overarching goal is to empower field epidemiologists in leveraging digital tools to enhance their work, consequently contributing to the overall improvement of public health within their respective countries.
The 2024 EpiTech Training Program will run from May through August 2024. The Program will consist of two distinct 1-week, in-person training sessions, with fieldwork and support activities conducted between the two sessions. The Program will bring together participants from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. Program curriculum includes a blend of workshops, online mentorship and education courses, and networking. Upon graduation from the Program, participants will be expected to serve as technical mentors for FETPs in the region.
